Fight Out Your Negative Thoughts

In life, everything at least has a dual aspect to it. There is matter- antimatter, black- white, brain is also divided into two halves and so are our thoughts. No one might have come across another human who stays unbelievably optimistic in life. In general, we humans have a tendency to see negative aspect of things more than the positive ones. It is natural and yet it is harmful. Negative thinking grows on you subtly without even you realizing its impact.

This dominating perspective makes people see the void in the glass, in turn letting people believe that the world is full of vices. Step by step you start losing faith, questioning everyone and becoming paranoid. You are no longer capable of taking confident decisions and your vision is clouded by the “what ifs” more than ever. You tend to get irritated and question people who seem happy, flowing with the trend of aligning yourself with the trending “existential crisis”.

In all, negative thinking is the most disgraceful and sorry mentality which ruins the possibilities, kills capabilities and bring along catastrophic consequences. To combat the negative thoughts residing within us, we need to know the root cause. When we start perceiving every circumstance from a negative point of view, that is when the real issue arises.

  1. Don’t blame your fate, don’t aspire for a better one and don’t drill yourself into attaining one. Whatever is, it is in front of you and you can only make it better by first accepting it instead of comparing and cribbing about it.
  2. Confront your negativity, face your thoughts. The more you pay heed the more negativity instills. Introspect, ask questions without letting it grow on you.
  3. Focus less on what would happen. The concentration on the possible outcomes garnar maximum negativity. What if things don’t go well, what if I am unable to do this, what if something goes wrong, it is a vicious cycle. Be action oriented, stop scrutinizing before execution.
  4. Quit the obsessive habit of giving a damn about what others think about you or what they think, in general. How would people take it, what will they think, how will they judge you, all of these thoughts cloud and clog your own thought process, needless to say, in a negative manner. People have always been there, been talking but you need to put a filter on all of that.
  5. Do some forecast and address your future self, with the similar characteristics, probably a bit more profound. Is it worse or does it make you happy? Once you get the answer, you’d know what you have to eliminate in order to avoid being that version of yourself.
  6. Help someone, restore some faith in the good.
  7. Eliminate and put barriers around the sources of pessimism surrounding you. People have a huge influence and it never harms to have some sort of positivity around you.
  8. Talk. Vent out your feelings, your frustrations and insecurities. The moment you let these things build up, it starts rotting which results into impaired thought process.
  9. Stop pondering and live in the present. Relax yourself, pamper yourself, travel some and meditate. Do things you like, exercise, take walks and enjoy the subtle marvels that life throws at you everyday which sadly go unnoticed.

More than anything, know that it won’t be simple or an overnight change. It is a complex reality which every human being deals with on a day to day basis. The conscious effort will bring about change but gradually. Live life, believe in good and do things more than thinking about them.
